Team jerseys to be plentiful at Amity boy's funeral
Apr 17, 2018The 12-year-old Amity Township boy, who died Friday, played Daniel Boone youth baseball and football, and he enjoyed memorizing the names and statistics of professional athletes.To celebrate that love of sports, Kimberly Wilkinson-Kahn, Mav's mother, is asking that guests wear sports jerseys to Mav's funeral services."I am wearing a Phillies jersey," she said. "My son was all about sports. Everyone will be wearing sports jerseys to his service."TODAY'S SPONSOR:Mav, a Daniel Boone seventh-grader, was born with a defective heart and one lung and had endured nine open-heart surgeries.The boy's outgoing personality inspired many, and Mav was well-known in the Daniel Boone community. He was Amity's honorary mayor and friends called him the "Tin Man," a nickname linked to the "Wizard of Oz" character who wanted a heart.Friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Campbell-Ennis-Klotzbach Funeral Home, Main Street at Fifth Avenue, Phoenixville.A visitation also will be held at 9 a.m. Friday followed by a funeral Mass at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Roman Catholic Church, 127 E. Howard St., Stowe.Interment will follow in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township.Memorial contributions can be made to the Mavrik Laxton Memorial Fund, c/o Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust, P.O.
